Steelers 2015 Schedule Looks Tough, Fans Shouldn’t Fret

The Steelers have a tough road ahead of them.  I’m not talking about the playoffs and the potential month ahead of them.  Before the Steelers can even close up their locker room for the winter and spring months, the 2015 schedules have been released.

Of course there was gnashing of teeth and nail biting already on social media about it.

The Steelers, aside from their usual 6 games against divisional foes will square up against teams from the AFC and NFC West divisions.  Here’s how the home and away games shake out for our Black & Gold:

Home: Baltimore (10-6), Cincinnati (10-5-1), Cleveland (7-9), Denver (12-4), Oakland (3-13), Arizona (11-5), San Francisco (8-8), Indianapolis (11-5)

Away: Baltimore (10-6), Cincinnati (10-5-1), Cleveland (7-9), Kansas City (9-7), San Diego (9-7), St. Louis (6-10), Seattle (12-4), New England (12-4)

Of the 13 different teams the Steelers will face during the 2015 season, 10 of them have .500 or better records in 2014.  Brutal.  Now of course teams can drastically change from year to year – we’ve seen it happen to our very own Steelers.  However, it’s hard to argue that the Steelers don’t have one of the more difficult schedules slated for next season.

Especially the road games.  Kansas City, San Diego, Seattle, and New England will all be tough contests on top of the yearly pilgrimage to Baltimore.

It’s enough to make someone start sipping the Pepto in preparation for eight months from now. Maybe things aren’t as bad as the look on paper – as that is usually the case.

Teams that are sub-.500 squads are the Steelers’ kryptonite.  Under Mike Tomlin, the Steelers can’t seem to figure out how to prepare for games against bad teams and treat them as if they were actually a threat… which they are.  With over 75% of the Steelers’ opponents reaching at least eight wins this season, that should help the Steelers.  At least, one would think.

It’s early.  The 2014 season hasn’t come to a close yet for THIS playoff bound team.  There are bound to be offseason moves and draft picks that will shift the needle one way or the other.

I won’t worry yet – neither should you.  Quite frankly at this point in time, I say, bring it on.
