NFL Power Rankings

Of course now that the Super Bowl has wrapped up and the Patriots have had their stupid parade and everything we still have to rank things. Elliot Harrison for NFL.com did post-Super Bowl power rankings, basically seeing where everyone lies behind New England going into the offseason.

The Pittsburgh Steelers ranked 5th citing their dangerous offense with Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown. The Ravens made it into the top 10 ranking 8th while the Bengals were 11th. Way down at the bottom, as usual, were the Cleveland Browns, ranked 26th in the league. Seems high, right?

Ben vs. Brady to open season

As the Super Bowl Champions, the Patriots now get to host the opening game of the NFL season on Thursday, September 10th. As the MMQB’s Peter King explains, the Steelers seem to be the likeliest of opponents picked for that game. The Patriots have a pretty boring home schedule so he’s guessing that the best matchup TV-wise is going to be Brady vs. Ben Roethlisberger to open the 2015 NFL season.

That means we have roughly 217 days, twelve hours, and twenty minutes or so until the Steelers 2015 season officially kicks off. But who’s counting?

Bell credits O-line

Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell may have been injured for the final game against Baltimore, but he knows that having a healthy offensive line led to his phenomenal 2014 season as a whole. Teresa Varley points out how Bell is always willing to give credit to his offensive line when receiving his accolades for his breakout year.

“I think this year was a good individual performance for me. I haven’t stopped and really looked at it. The year went really fast. When I go back and look at the games, I see some of the things I did and I’m happy, but a lot of credit goes to the guys up front. The offensive line did a tremendous job of opening holes for me this year. You have to give those guys credit.” – Le’Veon Bell

Center Maurkice Pouncey remained healthy for the entire season after missing most of 2013 while Kelvin Beachum remained at left tackle the entire season. Ramon Foster missed some games due injury but Cody Wallace was able to seamlessly step in and Mike Adams was able to step in for Marcus Gilbert when he missed four games.
