What We Learned This Week in the NFL Offseason:

  • It’s Tebow Time in Philly
  • Johnny Football apologizes
  • Adrian Peterson up for discussion but not grabs
  • NFL OTAs begin today
  • Steelers welcome familiar face to OTAs

There’s going to be a lot of football going on in the next couple of weeks, without any actual games played. We’re just a week and a half away from the 2015 NFL Draft and many teams are breaking out the cones and whistles for OTAs to begin. Some teams aren’t even done making headlines with signings. Or, perhaps, that’s just Chip Kelly doing more things that don’t make sense.

For Real?

We’ve been spared Tebow Mania for a two full seasons now but we might not get three seasons in a row. For some reason, Chip Kelly and the Eagles are set to sign Tim Tebow to their already crowded with mediocre quarterbacks roster.

Kelly already traded Nick Foles to St. Louis for Sam Bradford (who Tebow’s Gators beat in the 2009 BCS National Championship Game) and resigned Mark Sanchez to go along with Matt Barkley. The guess was for a while that Kelly was going to move heaven and earth to be able to land Marcus Mariota in next week’s draft but I’m guessing this move signifies the unlikelihood of that happening.

Naturally, Tebow isn’t a lock to make the 53-man roster. Even Kelly isn’t weird enough to carry four quarterbacks on the roster into the regular season but if Tebow is open to playing other positions like he did unsuccessfully with the Jets.

Perhaps this signing is just an ego move for Kelly to be take a stab at being the only coach able to turn Tebow into an actual, legitimate NFL quarterback. Good thing for us, there won’t be a shortage of coverage about this so we won’t be left to wonder.
