Ain’t no party like a Steelers party

Last season for the Ravens home game the Steelers honored the legendary Hall of Famer Joe Greene with a jersey retirement ceremony. Tonight the Steelers will honor another legendary Hall of Famer, Jerome Bettis, with half-time celebration to present him with his Hall of Fame ring.

The Steelers Teresa Varley spoke with Bettis about how he’ll feel to be honored by the Steelers organization and fans.

"“I would expect it’s going to be crazy and full of emotion. I think it will be amazing. It’s only fitting that this happens in front of the Steelers faithful. They have supported me and been behind me for so long. It’s great to be able to do it in front of Steelers fans who have been behind me my entire career.” – Jerome Bettis"

Presenting Bettis with his Hall of Fame ring will be none other than former Steelers head coach Bill Cowher, who wasn’t able to make it at the Hall of Fame induction ceremony this summer due to his daughter’s wedding.

Haley and Vick quality time

The ESPN staff takes us inside the extra preparation (on a short week) Steelers offensive coordinator has been putting in with Michael Vick to ensure he’s prepared to take the helm of the Steelers offense tonight.

Among the things they are working on is simplifying the game plan. Vick won’t be expected to run a lot of no-huddle offense as Ben Roethlisberger has earned the latitude to do but Vick will be running plays that Ben Roethlisberger runs, if he’s comfortable with them. The offense can’t completely change within this amount of time, that’s unrealistic.

Injury report

It’s no shock that Ben Roethlisberger has been ruled out of tonight’s game against the Ravens but as Zac Jackson of PFT points out, the Ravens will be without some starters themselves. LT Eugene Monroe (concussion), DE Chris Canty (calf) and TE Crockett Gillmore (calf) are all out as well as WR Breshad Perriman.

Out for the Steelers aside from Roethlisberger are NT Daniel McCullers (knee), TE Matt Spaeth (knee) and LB Ryan Shazier (shoulder). Cornerback Cortez Allen (knee) is listed as questionable.
