Steelers News: Roethlisberger, Brown, Williams

The Steelers will definitely be enjoying their bye week after a home win over the Browns and having more injuries this season than anyone can keep track of. While the team ices up their bumps and bruises during the bye we’ll be busy looking for mentions of your Black & Gold so we’ve got you covered. Here’s your Steelers Morning Huddle for Monday, Nov. 16th.

Superman

Ben Roethlisberger is the Steelers Digest Player of the Week after coming off of the bench to lead the team to a 30-9 victory over the Browns. Roethlisberger was active but not a starter for just the fifth time in his career, and the last time since being a rookie.

After stepping in for an injured Landry Jones and recovering quicker than originally thought from his own foot injury Roethlisberger went 22-of-33 for 379 yards, three touchdowns, one interception and a 123.2 passer rating. Bob Labriola reminds us that Steelers receivers also drew four pass interference calls totaling 141 yards so Roethlisberger’s impact on the offense was more around 500 total yards.

He stuck the landing

Antonio Brown was asked following the Steelers 30-9 win over the Browns to describe what went into his end zone flip on his second touchdown of the game. He explained that he was just having some fun and was glad to have stuck the landing, knowing that it’s only fun to do stuff like that if you don’t get injured.

Cause for concern?

Just a week after DeAngelo Williams ran wild all over the Oakland Raiders the Steelers running game was stopped short against a Cleveland defense that ranks dead last in the league in rushing defense, giving up an average of almost 150 yards per game.

Next: Steelers should re-sign William Gay

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler assures that the Steelers should get back on track by their next game but it is still a bit odd that they couldn’t successfully run the ball against the Browns. Everyone runs on the Browns. It perhaps has something to do with the change in quarterback the team had to do and possibly a change in game plan but still, hopefully this doesn’t happen again.
