Steelers vs Bengals (Round 2): Defensive Huddle

facebooktwitterreddit

Steelers defense continues the season with their “bend, don’t break” mentality by coming away with three interceptions and only allowing 20 points

How about that win, Steeler Nation?

It could’ve been a lot different if Andy Dalton didn’t get injured, but we won. That’s all I care about.

Now let’s take a look at how our beloved defense did this afternoon.

THE GOOD:

-Run defense was solid in this game. Between Giovani Bernard and Jeremy Hill the Steelers defense only allowed 56 rushing yards. You’d think Bernard and Hill would’ve had bigger games with A.J. McCarron at QB, but they didn’t and that’s good.

-Turnovers. For the Steelers to walk into Cincinnati and force three turnovers was huge. Not only were they turnovers, but they were interceptions. Even though our pass defense is ranked towards the bottom of the league, they still managed to come away with two interceptions. Stephon Tuitt got the first one, William Gay got the second, and Robert Golden got the third. Hats off to you, men.

-Speaking of interceptions, the Steelers continue to live up their “bend, don’t break” mentality. Our defense did give up 339 passing yards between Dalton and A.J. McCarron, but again only allowed 20 points. Some might think that’s a lot, but I don’t

-I absolutely loved the chippiness in this game. That’s what great rivalries are made of. Two teams that cannot stand each other. There a few things that I didn’t love by a certain player that doesn’t deserve to have his mentioned.

THE BAD:

Nah, I’m good.

MY THREE STARS:

-The entire Steelers defense. They played solid and made plays when it mattered the most.

Hey Denver, you’re next.

Here we go, Steelers! Here we go!
