Steelers season never truly ends for Steeler Nation so while the offseason starts to heat up we’ll be busy looking for mentions of your Black & Gold so we’ve got you covered. Here’s your Steelers Morning Huddle for Saturday, Apr. 9th.

Veteran leader

When Steelers linebacker Lawrence Timmons isn’t puking on the field he’s training hard off of the field to return each season as one of the leaders on the defense. Teresa Varley has his takes on everything from blitzing to his offseason training regimen.

Timmons specifically talks about the importance of taking care of his body as he enters his 10th season with the Steelers.

"“A lot of wear and tear is tough. It’s a day-to-day deal. It’s also a lifestyle. It’s one I love doing. I feel like I go harder and achieve more because it’s something I love doing.” – Lawrence Timmons"

Go petty or go home

Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams’ Twitter activity continues to entertain during this long and arduous offseason. Last week Williams spent some time on ESPN and conveyed that he believed Bengals’ linebacker Vontaze Burfict’s hit on Antonio Brown cost the Steelers a Super Bowl run.

"Incase you missed it"

That prompted a Twitter spat between Burfict and Williams that is pure gold. If the NFL knows what they’re doing they’re going to schedule the Steelers and Bengals to play after Burfict is done serving his suspension. Should be entertaining.

Slim down

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is using his offseason training time to slim down before OTAs. There’s no way he completely sheds the “Big Ben” moniker but he’s doing what he can to slim down to help prevent injuries on his joints.

Next: Steelers and Bengals rivalry heats up

Josh Alper of PFT explains that Roethlisberger has lost about 15 pound doing cardio so far this offseason. Anything that keeps him on the field is a good plan by anyone’s book.
