Steelers season never really ends for Steeler nation so while the Steelers players get their minds and bodies right to embark on the 2016 regular season we’ll be busy looking for mentions of your Black & Gold so we’ve got you covered. Here’s your Steelers Morning Huddle for Saturday, July 23rd.

When you dip, I dip, we dip

There’s no question that the magical offense the Steelers was poised to be this season takes a bit of a hit without their top running back for at least the first four games. There’s no reason to tank the season and starting thinking about draft picks but ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler points out that there will be a loss of dimension.

More from Steelers News

Fowler reminds us that in the two games last season the Steelers played without

Le’Veon Bell

and

Martavis Bryant

(who faces a full year suspension for violating the NFL’s drug policy) the team averaged 454.5 yards and four touchdowns.

Odds are the Steelers will find their offensive rhythm without Bell, especially with a healthy DeAngelo Williams. The offense may not be as magical as it could have been with Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown and Bell each playing 16 games but it could still be effective.

Goodell still a jagoff

Just in case you were wondering, Goodell is still a jerk. While Bell appeals to try to explain why he’s facing a suspension for the second straight season Steelers linebacker James Harrison tries to clear his name from a false accusation while also expecting the impossible from Roger Goodell.

Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk reports that the NFL received affidavits from all of the players mentioned in the Al Jazeera documentary including Harrison but insists that the affidavits alone aren’t good enough to clear their names and they all need to be interviewed at their respective training camps.

Underrated

Steelers right tackle Marcus Gilbert is quietly making a name for himself as one of the top exterior offensive linemen in the league. CBS Sport’s Pete Prisco lists Gilbert as the most underrated player for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

After showing up last season lean and trimmed down he allowed only one sack the whole year and was impressive against Super Bowl MVP and owner of the Denver Broncos Brinks truck full of money Von Miller both times the Steelers faced them last season.
