While the team works the week to get ready for the Lions we’ll be busy looking for mentions of your Black & Gold so we’ve got you covered. Here’s your Steelers Morning Huddle for Friday, Aug. 12th.

Paging Heeeeeaaaaath Miller

So the Steelers made pretty much one big move in free agency, and it was an important one. With long-time tight end Heath Miller retiring the free agent signing of San Diego tight end Ladarius Green seemed to be a pretty good move all around.

Unfortunately, however, it literally hasn’t played out yet.

NFL Media reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala reports from Steelers training camp

that Green hasn’t practiced once since his signing and he’s been recovered from his ankle injury for some time.

What he does have a problem with is recurring headaches. Green suffered two concussions in two weeks last September with the Chargers and they were reportedly his second and third concussions in less than a calendar year for him. Not good. Not good at all.

Relax, man

Steelers receiver Antonio Brown puts on a show basically wherever he goes and it has been no different in training camp. With the joint practices the Steelers have held with the Detroit Lions the receiver got a chance to see some different kind of coverage than he’s been getting from his teammates.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler explains that Brown got a little heated with an official during Wednesday’s practice for a lack of holding calls.

Brown had to be calmed by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and the referee, Terry Brown, not only got huffy and said that he was close to tossing Brown from practice but he also said that he’s going to report Brown’s behavior to the league.

Brown is going to have to make sure he catches everything that is thrown at him this season because the refs will be doing him no favors.

Ironhead

Steelers defensive end Cameron Heyward wrote a fantastic piece for The Players’ Tribune about his father, Craig “Ironhead” Heyward. It’s something you should really go and read as a Heyward fan, Steelers fan or a Pitt fan, it will get you in the feels.

If you don’t know the story of Ironhead Heyward he was a running back for the University of Pittsburgh. He played in the NFL for the Saints, Bears, Falcons, Rams and Colts. He died in May of 2006 from brain cancer. Cam Heyward wore “Iron Head” eyeblack last season in honor of his father for a few games before the league stepped in.

I love hearing about other people who had a dad who was their hero/friend/protector/biggest fan/everything. I miss my dad for all the same reasons.
