#7 Joey Porter’s Big Mouth

"Courtesy helmet2helmet.net “We are going to the dance. Everyone said we couldn’t do it being the sixth seed. We just took the scenic route.” “You ever see the movie ‘Underworld’? I was sleeping all week, but I got my first taste of blood right here; and it is great when you haven’t tasted it in a while. This week was boring until now.” – Joey Porter"

One of the most entertaining things about being a Steelers fan during Porter’s tenure with the team was listening to what he had to say about opposing teams. Porter’s ability to use words to fire up his team, the media and himself made him a huge emotional leader for the Steelers. He never took crap from anyone, and when Jeremy Stevens of the Seahawks talked smack about Jerome Bettis, that was the last straw for Joey.

#6: Jack Lambert’s Super Bowl Stand

"Courtesy www.bestbythenumbers.com “What?! You can’t kick me out, this is the Super Bowl!” – Jack Lambert"

In Super Bowl X while the Steelers were trailing the Cowboys, Roy Gerela missed a field goal, and Cowboys’ Safety Cliff Harris mockingly patted him on the helmet in congratulations. Lambert quickly grabbed Harris and flung him down to the ground. The referee quickly ejected Lambert from the game to which Lambert replied the above quote. Sure enough, the ref simply told him OK, and to keep it clean. Imagine that happening in a Super Bowl today.

#5: Anthony Smith’s Guarantee

"Courtesy www.boston.com “We’re going to win…Yeah, I can guarantee a win. As long as we come out and do what we got to do. Both sides of the ball are rolling, and if our special teams come through for us, we’ve got a good chance to win.” – Anthony Smith"

Sounds harmless when you read what he actually said, doesn’t it? Props to that interviewer for really fishing the guarantee out of him. It was anything but harmless. The media blew it up huge. Smith said this in relation to playing the NE Patriots in Foxborough, and it was clear that Brady used it as billboard material. I’m pretty sure he had it up at his fridge at home. Every pass in that game was aimed right at the receiver being covered by Smith. And like, all of them went for TD’s. Not one of the Steelers’ finer moments.
