#1: Lambert on Quarterbacks

"Courtesy openboldly.blogspot.com “Quarterbacks should wear dresses.” – Jack Lambert"

After a vicious hit on Cleveland Browns QB Brian Sipe, referees threw Lambert out of the game, at first stating that he hit the Quarterback too hard. Years later Lambert would reflect back on the incident,

"“I was seriously thinking about changing my uniform number after that game. I felt that I’d been thrown out because I was No. 58. because I was Jack Lambert. At the Pro Bowl this year I was talking to one of the officials. He said, ‘I saw films of that Cleveland game. What did you do?’ I said, ‘Hey, no kidding.” “But Brian was the quarterback. He lay on the ground like a sniper had shot him, so they threw me out. It’s big entertainment now, protect the quarterback, $200 to your favorite charity.”"

More like $75,000 to your favorite charity. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it? Again, it’s so great when players talk and then back it up on the field. A fine here or an ejection there didn’t keep Lambert from hitting QBs, it only fueled the fire. His dresses quote will live on in infamy as the most well-known quote in Steelers history. Given it’s modern implications with new proposals for when a QB will be ruled down, it’s even more poignant today.

I hope you enjoyed my compilation.  I realize that there are many quotes from many players in different eras that I did not include. It was tough to choose which ones to include and I opted towards the quotes with the best stories behind them, and the ones that are still relevant today.
