Devin Bush

Fans have very high hopes for Devin Bush. He was an extremely talented linebacker coming out of Michigan whose ceiling is through the roof. However, Bush hasn’t lived up to his billing so far.

Much like fellow linebacker Mark Barron, Devin Bush has been picked on in the passing game, and has struggled at times against the run. Through the first three weeks of the season, he has earned just a 40.5 overall grade from Pro Football Focus – one of the lowest among all qualifying linebackers.

It’s important to remember that Bush is just a 21-year old linebacker three games through his professional career, but things need to start turning around. He will be tasked with stopping Joe Mixon and slowing down a pair of capable tight ends in Tyler Eifert and C.J. Uzomah on Monday night. Let’s hope he takes a big step forward.

Joe Haden

While Steven Nelson is off to a very solid start to the 2019 season, it’s hard to say the same thing about veteran Joe Haden. The former Pro Bowl cornerback (not the newcomer) is the one who has been picked on so far.

Though his mistakes aren’t always obvious, he is off to a slow start this year (as evidenced by his 53.4 overall PFF grade). Haden needs to kick things in gear as he prepares to handle Tyler Boyd and John Ross in week four.

The Steelers haven’t had a lot of things go their way so far this season, but we can’t blame it all on bad luck. There are a lot of key players who need to step up their game. If these five players can do so against the Bengals, it will be the first step of many in turning their sesaon around.
