Steelers likely televised games in 2020

Week 5 Philadelphia Oct. 11th, 1 p.m. ET

One problem with NFL scheduling is a natural geographic rival like the Eagles only comes to Pittsburgh once every eight years.

But will what play in Harrisburg play in Peoria?

It’s an appealing enough matchup. But will FOX consider it to be superior to Carolina at Atlanta, the Rams at Washington, and Arizona at the New York Jets?

The feeling here is yes. Sure, a Carolina/Atlanta has geographic appeal too, so if you live in Columbia you’re not going to be able to see the game on WACH.

But the Rams are going to regress, the other teams are permanently mediocre, and Falcons and Panthers play twice a year.

It’s not unique.

You can probably stay at home and watch this one. Hopefully with some pretzels to keep the Pennsylvania feel.

Week 3 Houston Sept. 27th, 1 p.m. ET

This game figures to be the primary CBS 1 p.m. telecast. Houston comes off a playoff season, and the games going up against it; Cincinnati at Philadelphia, Las Vegas at Bradyless New England, and Tennessee at Minnesota aren’t terribly compelling.

Then again, Houston begins their season playing arguably the two best teams in the AFC last season; Kansas City and Baltimore. The Texans could be 0-2 heading into this game, and if that happens and the Steelers don’t pull their weight in their opening two games this might get shelved behind, say, Joe Burrow against the team that won the Super Bowl three years ago.
