Loser: Eric Ebron

There was so much hope for Eric Ebron entering this week, as the Eagles defense had been obliterated by tight ends this season. George Kittle single-handedly destroyed them the week before and Tyler Higbee had scored three times earlier in the season. On top of this, the Steelers had finally seen some production out of the newly signed Ebron against the Texans, as he made some gritty catches and scored his first touchdown.

He was poised to break out this week, but he was instead disappointed against the Eagles. His five receptions for 43 yards were paltry, to begin with. This was a week where he should have been able to take over and turn into the threat the Steelers had hoped for when they signed him. Beyond that though, he had a critical fumble and drop towards the end of the game that helped the Eagles hang in there. Had the Steelers ultimately lost this bought, Ebron would be one of the primary reasons.

The early season returns haven’t been promising for Ebron. While he found some success against the Texans, he has yet to be a consistent player and one dominant enough to warrant his contract. He will have to turn this around if he wants to stay with the Steelers beyond just this season. Consistency and scored will be key for him, and if he can’t provide much there, he will likely be one and done with the Steelers.
