Elevate: S Antoine Brooks Jr.

A decision made here is to be valued lightly, as fans trust with the Steelers organization should withhold any sort of doubt. Last week, DL Henry Mondeaux (promoted to 53), RB Trey Edmunds, & LB Jayrone Elliott were elevated to the 53-man roster, that can only happen twice in a season for each player before having to be officially signed to the active roster.

The four protected players heading into week 8 include WR Deon Cain, RB Wendell Smallwood, Edmunds, & Elliott (all activated at least once but Smallwood). However, scanning through the rest of their practice squad list, sixth-round pick S Antoine Brooks Jr. still awaits any sort of chance.

Again, the Steelers’ front office & coaches’ judgment should be minimal at this point. Going off the player he was advertised coming out of Maryland, Brooks supposed effectiveness across the line of scrimmage could pay dividends in sub-packages, plus the ability to carry upfield with tight ends & running backs.

Although, not in the direction of filling CB Mike Hilton, which CB Cam Sutton has performed at a level that begs for more playing time. It’s noting back to the possibility of a secondary player as an LB. Elliott only saw three special teams snaps in his debut last week & with the RB room more than intact, as well as FB Derek Watt set to return, a completely different look elsewhere could not be the worst thing.
