Injuries on the defensive line could hurt the Steelers

There isn’t a more aggressive and powerful defensive line in 2020 than the guys who tout the Black and Gold. Along with the aforementioned Tuitt, Tyson Alualu has been incredible this year and Cameron Heyward is looking to earn Pro Bowl honors for his fourth consecutive season.

Unfortunately, both Alualu and Heyward went down with injuries in Baltimore. Alualu left the game in the first half with a knee injury and never returned to the contest. In fact, he could be seen from the sideline in street clothes coming out of halftime. Heyward’s injury had not been confirmed as of Sunday evening, and the team is hoping it was cramping that caused him to come out of the game late in the fourth quarter.

Either way, losing either of these players could be huge losses for the Steelers if they are down for any extent of time. Behind them on the depth chart, Pittsburgh is relatively thin. Isaiah Buggs did a serviceable job filling in for the injured Alualu in the second half, and Henry Mondeaux and rookie Carlos Davis are the only other backups currently on the 53-man roster.

Once they find out the extent of these injuries, Pittsburgh may be forced to make a quick play at a defensive tackle before the November 3rd trade deadline.

Overall, there were a lot of positives to note from the Steelers win over the Ravens, and apart from the injuries, it’s hard to find much to complain about after taking down one of the best teams in the league. Pittsburgh is now undefeated through seven games, and they have a chance to make this the best streak in franchise history with a win over the Dallas Cowboys next week.
