Big Ben’s Best Throw of the Day goes to Diontae Johnson

Situation: 1st & 10 from the Steelers 26-yard line, with the Steelers up 6-0, with 2:52 remaining in the 1st quarter

The Pittsburgh Steelers started off shaky as their first four drives ended in either a punt or field goal. Big Ben didn’t look great in those drives and couldn’t find his groove until the Johnson bomb. It’s rare to see the best throw of the day come in the first quarter but this throw put Ben in a groove that the Bengals couldn’t get him out of.

Roethlisberger threw a missile downfield – a one-on-one situation with Johnson having a step on his man. Johnson came down with the ball for a 46-yard reception. This set up a 12-yard thread-the-needle touchdown pass to Diontae two plays later.

Ben found Johnson five more times for 116 yards. Diontae wasn’t the only wideout who had a great day, as JuJu Smith-Schuster finished the day with 9 catches for 77 yards and a touchdown. Chase Claypool also had a monster day pulling in two of Bens four touchdowns in a 4 catch 56-yard performance.
