Jaguars 4th year wide receiver Keelan Cole Sr. is having a career year and it isn’t on offense

He isn’t the primary target on offense. He has taken more of a role similar to that of Pittsburgh Steelers own Ray-Ray McCloud. With DJ Chark Jr., Laviska Shenault Jr., and Chris Conley all ahead of him up to this point he isn’t finding as much time on the field in that regard. He’d be even further down the depth chart if Dede Westbrook wasn’t on IR. Yet, he could make a pro bowl this season. He just recently took over the kick and punt return duties for the Jaguars and after breaking a 91-yard punt return for a touchdown, he more than likely will be there for the rest of the season.

He has only returned 4 punts and 3 kick returns, yet he is averaging 26.7 yards per return on kickoffs and 29.3 yards per return on punts. It is a very small sample size. However, he should be their go-to return man for the remainder of the season. He came from a small school, and he is slightly undersized while running just a 4.59 40 yard dash time. He is still pretty fast and he has great vision as a runner with the ball in his hands.

Trending. Steelers' greatest concerns vs. greatest comforts after Week 10. light

Not only will the return game be fun to watch, but it will also be an interesting chess match between the punting units. Both Ray-Ray McCloud and Keelan Cole Sr. are as dangerous as they come. I would not be surprised to see a lot of really high punts aimed towards the sideline if not out of bounds to keep them from making things happen. While both teams have been good as of late at pinning opposing offenses deep, there is a large risk vs reward factor here in that aspect. Even on kickoffs, I expect them to aim for touchbacks more than returnable balls in this contest.
