Paddy Fisher, LB, Northwestern

Paddy Fisher is one of the best linebackers to ever wear purple in the Northwestern program. He holds many different records for the University and is a mid-to-late-round prospect currently. Fisher has nothing but production and shows up on tape. He just screams Tyler Matakevich coming out of Temple. He would be able to provide immediate depth at the inside linebacker position and show an amazing ability in the special team’s department. Although Fisher does seem like a Matakevich clone, he has a higher ceiling as a starter in this league. He is faster and makes more plays than the former Steeler ever could.

Fisher would be a middle-round prospect if he jumps into the hearts of NFL teams this week. It will not be easy for him to move up higher than that due to his lack of athleticism. The lack of speed keeps him from being an all-around player as he gets beat in coverage often. If he can show better coverage skills in Mobile then he could move up those boards more. He is a solid run-stuffing player that will be a nice addition to any team that selects him in the middle of the draft. It might not seem like a giant need for the Steelers with the emergence of Robert Spillane and Devin Bush coming back from injury but Vince Williams could be gone due to cap issues. This could become a need as the draft gets closer.
