Jaelan Phillips, Miami

Jaelan Phillips was one of the two impressive pass rushers for the Miami Hurricanes. His teammate, Gregory Rousseau will also be a high selection in this draft as he is mocked anywhere from the first to the second round. Phillips has injury issues and that is the hardest gauge on him when you consider where he could land in the draft.

He has all the intangibles to be a mid-first-round selection by a team but the injuries are an issue. If he can stay healthy then this will be an easy choice for many teams in the first round. It seems like he will be chosen with a team’s first pick and that is well deserved. Phillips is the best physical prospect in this draft crop and that is really saying something. His size and speed are something to marvel at as he will be very high on some boards while others will dock him because of the injury bug.

He should go in the first round but he could drop if his medical situation does not check out going forward. His testing at his pro day impressed many people as his numbers were very eye-opening for his size. Again, the issue is not his production or abilities, the problem is if he can stay healthy or not going forward. He will be worth the gamble for many teams as they search for the next great pass-rusher.
