Alex Highsmith switches from beating up Dan Moore to beating up Chukwuma Okorafor

Apparently, it doesn’t matter too much which offensive tackle Alex Highsmith is going up against; he’s going to get the best of them. After not participating in team drills to begin training camp, Chukwuma Okorafor is finally at full speed and has been inserted as the starting left tackle in Steelers training camp practices (as was to be expected).

After Dan Moore was routinely embarrassed by Highsmith, it’s time for the crowd at Heinz Field to start hooting and hollering every time Okorofor is dusted by the young pass rusher. Obviously, it’s only been a few days, but the young edge defender is clearly getting the best of the offensive tackles.

What’s a bit concerning is not knowing how much of this has to do with poor performances from the offensive tackles compared to a dominant performance by Alex Highsmith. Is the young pass rusher really as good as he has been performing all training camp? Will he be able to continue this dominant run against great NFL tackles in the regular season, or is he winning because the Steelers OTs just aren’t very good.

Obviously, we hope for improvement and more scrappy battles between Highsmith and Okorafor, but it hasn’t been close so far. Alex Highsmith continues to get the best of everyone he goes up against at Steelers training camp.
