Mike Tomlin, Head Coach

Mike Tomlin might be somewhat of a shocker for being on this list as many expect him to make the Hall of Fame after retiring fairly easily. That might be the case as long as he continues to coach for a while longer, which seems to be a real possibility as he hasn’t even turned 50 years old yet. That youth gives him the advantage to improve his resume further and that should propel him into Canton when it is all said and done. But when you look at his current numbers, it doesn’t seem good enough to make it just yet. He has now been the coach of the Steelers for longer than Bill Cowher and he has fewer playoff appearances and a worse record. They have the same amount of Super Bowl wins so that is another positive for Tomlin’s resume.

The biggest issue with Tomlin is his .500 record in the post-season currently and his lack of individual accolades. He still has not won Coach of the Year for the NFL. That is an issue when looking at his Hall of Fame potential. That doesn’t count him out entirely though. He still holds a really good overall record as a Head Coach for the black and Gold, better than Cowher’s was. He has never had a team finish under .500 during a season. All those things give him a positive rating for a future induction but if he can win some individual awards or another Super Bowl, he will become a lock. Youth is still on his side, so hopefully, he sticks around and makes it to Canton one day.
