Steelers offense is despicable

Nowadays, it’s hard to have a lot of confidence in Pittsburgh’s offense. This wasn’t the case with a Ben Roethlisberger-led team in the early 2010s, but a lot has changed over the past decade.

Anymore, Roethlisberger rarely takes shots down the field and much of his yardage comes after the catch. On the afternoon, Big Ben managed just 148 yards on 25 attempts (5.9 yards per attempt) to go with an 80.1 passer rating.

The running game was somehow worse. Despite investing a first-round pick into a do-it-all running back, rookie Najee Harris was able to muster up just 18 yards on 12 carries (1.5 yards per carry). This clearly isn’t good enough to scare anybody.

The front office deserves some blame here for knowingly and intentionally failing to properly address the offensive line for years. Now Pittsburgh’s offense is paying the price. This team was nearly doubled in offensive yardage (168 to 318), and they are fortunate to come away with the win in Week 15.
