Steelers fifth-round pick (comp): S Quentin Lake, UCLA

Carnell Lake once roamed the Steelers secondary, punishing wide receivers, and finished with 16 interceptions and three touchdowns. He even has his name on the Steelers wall of honor behind the endzone.

Enter Quentin Lake, Carnell Lakes, son. Considering his pedigree and the fact which attracts many NFL teams at times, Terell Edmunds may not be around in 2022 makes sense for the Steelers to draft Lake.

Lake is not flashy by any means, yet he has traits teams like to see. He has a lot of versatility, either off the edge or in the box. Although this is not unique, he plays all of these positions very well, which is unique. He is also very disciplined and instinctual. He undoubtedly picked up these traits from watching his father play in the NFL.

He may not be a starter when he enters the league; however, he could certainly work up to a starting position. We all know fans love to see those punishing hits Steelers defensive backs are known for; however, this is not Lakes style of play; as long as he breaks up passes and a few interceptions along the way, that should suffice. It’s doubtful any fan would criticize this selection.
