Steelers have met with Carson Strong

I have expressed my distaste for Nevada QB, Carson Strong, since before the 2021 college football season kicked off. While he had an impressive season from a statistical standpoint, he did very little to change my opinion of him.

The Mountain West quarterback increased his production each year and has a good arm, but he was less than stellar early in Senior Bowl practices early on. His severe lack of functional mobility is the biggest negative to his game, and he admitted that he was a statue in the pocket this year.

Regardless, Strong met with Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin on Monday, Ray Fittipaldo confirms. We don’t know at this time if Strong also met with additional coaches or members of the front office.

Considering that Strong is well outside of Pittsburgh’s typical scouting region, I don’t think there’s a good chance that he ends up being the pick — especially when Tomlin has emphasized quarterback mobility this offseason. However, this meeting is at least worth keeping an eye on to see if they show continued interest through the offseason.
