1. Steelers need a quarterback

You could give me a hundred reasons why the Steelers shouldn’t take a quarterback in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft this year or why they shouldn’t be willing to trade for a veteran this offseason. However, you won’t convince me that QB isn’t the biggest need on this roster.

I was not a fan of bringing Ben Roethlisberger back for another season in 2021, and I predicted how things would unfold for the Steelers in his final year. However, one of the league’s worst QB rooms remarkable got even worse heading into the 2022 offseason.

Currently, only backup Mason Rudolph is under contract for the 2022 season, and most believe that Pittsburgh will retain Dwayne Haskins on a reasonable one-year deal. Still, this group should give nobody any confidence, and the Steelers (by default) will have to look for outside help at the quarterback position.

At this point in time, we don’t know if it will be Rudolph, a veteran, or a rookie who will get the chance to start for Pittsburgh in 2022, but we do know the outlook of the QB position is not good at all. There is no more important position in all of football, and the Steelers must address quarterback this offseason.

I am confident that the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to address all five of these needs during the 2022 offseason, but how they prioritize them through the NFL Draft and free agency will be extremely interesting to see unfold.
