Steelers trade with Eagles

Steelers get: Dillard

Eagles get: Bush

A rare player for player swap, a deal like this makes a lot of sense for both sides. The Eagles have seemingly failed to find a quality off-ball linebacker every offseason, and last year they were forced to start T.J. Edwards and Alex Singleton because of it.

While neither are complete liabilities, they could certainly be improved upon. As well, adding an athletic linebacker to that room would be a change of pace, as neither starter are notoriously athletic.

Andre Dillard, meanwhile, has had his own share of struggles as a former first-round pick. He has never developed into a consistent starter as of yet, but the Eagles seemingly made some progress with him in 2021. He was used mostly as a swing option and a reserve which led to his best season yet. That said, he still has an unlikely path to become a full-time starter with the Eagles and thus could be traded.

The Steelers have a need at offensive tackle while the Eagles have a need at linebacker. Both teams possess former first-round picks on the verge of busting. This deal honestly seems pretty cut and dry. The Eagles get a more athletic linebacker to try out on their defense while the Steelers get a new tackle to start. It’s a win-win deal for both sides and one that has to be explored moving forward.

The Steelers aren’t promised to trade Bush but considering his rookie deal is up after next season and it seems unlikely that he gets his fifth-year option, trading him could yield the team the most value. These four deals seem like the best fits, as each of the teams he would be going to is in need of linebacker help. Keep these trades in mind as the offseason ramps up.
