Pickett will compete to start in Week 1

In the press conference after the pick, Mike Tomlin stated that Pickett would have the chance to compete with Trubisky and Rudolph for ranking on the depth chart. I believe as it stands right now, Pickett brings a mobility factor that will put him ahead of Rudolph. Trubisky has some mobility as well, but I think it is lacking when you compare his mobility to Picketts.

When looking over some of Pickett’s highlights, it reminded me of a young Ben Roethlisberger. Pickett is not afraid to use his legs to get him out of trouble and create separation. I think that is what Mike Tomlin liked most about Pickett.

Pickett can also buy time with his legs and prolong plays to give him some additional opportunities to be creative with his receivers. This could turn out to be one tough training camp for the quarterback room.
