LB Mark Robinson: D-

I wasn’t a big fan of this pick for the Steelers. Mark Robinson is a 5’11”, 230-pound linebacker with average athletic traits. He also did nothing to stand out on film. Late in the draft, I would prefer to bet on upside, and Robinson doesn’t have much of it.

For the Steelers, Robinson will just be hoping to crack the final roster as the team’s last inside linebacker. However, it’s probably more likely that he’ll head to the practice squad in 2022 and try again next year. At best, he becomes a quality special teams player.

QB Chris Oladokun: F

I can’t say I’m surprised by this selection at all. I knew that the Steelers had brought in Chris Oladokun for a pre-draft visit and that there was a chance they would double up on QB this year. It’s not that big of a deal late in the seventh round, but I just don’t love the thought process.

Pittsburgh likely did this for financial reasons with the contract he gets by being a draft choice, and there was no guarantee they could have grabbed a scout-team QB they liked as a priority-free agent. Oladokun is almost certainly headed to the practice squad. I am just never a fan of drafting players who will never see the field in a meaningful NFL game.
