Steelers defensive line

Unfortunately, we still do not know the pending status of Stephon Tuitt. While some of his teammates, namely Cameron Heyward, have every bit of confidence he will return, this cannot be confirmed by the team, and we will have to take a wait-and-see approach.

Regardless, I think Pittsburgh’s interior defensive line is going to be much improved in 2022. Returning to the field is defensive tackle Tyson Alualu who landed on IR just two games into his 2021 campaign. Though he just turned 35 years old, he has been excellent for the Steelers and he could pick up where he left off.

In addition, the team could rely on Montravius Adams more this year. He played just five games late in the season after he was released by the Saints after Week 11. Adams was solid despite stepping into a sizable role from the gate. Likewise, Carlos Davis is returning from IR and he could play a role as an interior defender if he sticks around.

Perhaps the biggest area of improvement will come in the form of two young players: Isaiahh Loudermilk and DeMarvin Leal. Loudermilk played sparingly for the Steelers in his first season in 2021 but showed flashes. He recently bulked up to 310 pounds after weighing in at the NFL Combine at 274 pounds. Leal, meanwhile, could have a role from the gate as a penetrating defensive lineman in passing situations.
