The Steelers young offensive lineman is a ‘mighty mite’ in the weight room

When the Steelers drafted Kendrick Green in the third round of the 2021 draft, I was frankly surprised as there was another offensive lineman on the board whom I believed was a better prospect than Green.

We drafted Green and that, as they say, was that. Despite my reservations, which honestly don’t amount to anything since no one in the front office asked for my input when we selected Green, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Green is a ‘gym rat’.

In an article published in January 2022 by WCBU.org, while speaking to a group of students at the Children’s Home Association of Illinois’ Kiefer School about what it’s like playing in the NFL, Green answered questions posed by the students.

During the question-and-answer session, Green stated he can bench press 425 pounds. Although Green is listed at 315 pounds on the official Steelers website, being able to bench over 400 pounds is nonetheless impressive.

What is also impressive is this:  If you go to the Facebook page of Fighting Illini Football, you will see a video from March 2020 of Green squatting 700 pounds.  From what I saw, the squat would have been called a ‘good lift’ in a powerlifting competition.  If you can squat twice your weight and you weigh over 300 pounds, you’re pretty strong.

Let’s see who comes in at number thirteen on our list.
