3. Steelers could target LB SirVorcea Dennis

This doesn’t really feel like Pittsburgh’s usual type of linebacker, but with Kevin Colbert no longer calling the shots on draft day, the Steelers could find a lot of value in a player like this. At 6’0” and 218 pounds, SirVocea Dennis is roughly the same size as Terrell Edmunds entering the league (a bit shorter, in fact). However, that doesn’t mean that he can’t play linebacker in the NFL.

While he isn’t going to be the downhill thumper that this team has desired in the past, Dennis offers something that no other current Steelers linebacker does: coverage ability. With smooth hips and effortless movements, Dennis can run stride for stride with tight ends, running backs, and even slot receivers. He also had an interception in drills at the Senior Bowl.

For the Steelers, Dennis would probably be a situational linebacker who comes on the field in nickel and dime in obvious passing situations, but that doesn’t mean he’s not valuable. There are other linebackers Pittsburgh will like better this year, and justifiably so. But Dennis does have a niche and a place on a defensive rotation in the NFL.

If the Steelers happen to miss out on the first wave of linebackers on day two of the NFL Draft, Dennis could be a player they consider. Don’t let his size fool you: he’s a quality football player and graded out as one of the best linebackers in the nation in 2022.
