The Pittsburgh Steelers are finding value all over the 2024 NFL Draft. After stealing Washington OT Troy Fautanu and West Virginia C Zach Frazier with their first two picks, Omar Khan found a way to land Roman Wilson with the 84th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Wilson is a player who has drawn the attention of Mike Tomlin and the Steelers dating back to the Senior Bowl. In WR vs. DB drills during Senior Bowl week, Wilson made some of the best defensive backs in the nation look silly -- even getting the best of first-round CB Quinyon Mitchell at times.

Wilson was the top wide receiver target on a championship team at Michigan. Though the passing game was not the focus, the athletic talented receiver managed 107 receptions for 1,707 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns in his four-year career, via Sports Reference -- his best year coming as a senior in 2023.

Where does Roman Wilson fit on the Steelers?

Wide receiver was a huge positional need for the Pittsburgh Steelers entering the 2024 NFL Draft. Outside of George Pickens, veteran journeyman Van Jefferson was their best option.

As a rookie, Roman Wilson projects as a starting slot receiver with the ability to develop into a full-time WR2 by the end of his rookie campaign. Wilson is a smooth mover with soft hands and excellent speed. At the NFL Combine, the Michigan product clocked in at 4.39 in the 40-yard dash.

Wilson isn't big for a wide receiver. At 5'10 3/4'' and 185 pounds with short arms, Wilson doesn't have the biggest catch radius, but he makes up for it with speed and physicality at the catch point.

Having Roman Wilson available at pick 84 was a dream scenario for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and they rushed to the podium to turn in their card.
