J.J. Wilcox

11 tackles through12 games is not what Pittsburgh was hoping for when they traded for J.J. Wilcox last offseason. After Daimion Stafford decided he was done playing football, the Steelers needed a backup safety. So, they called the Buccaneers and handed them a sixth-round pick for the backup safety.

He wasn’t useless to this team, but he certainly didn’t meet expectations. Blame it on lack of reps or the fact that he played backup at safety, but there’s no denying this was a bad season for Wilcox.

He’s probably not coming back in 2018. Pittsburgh already handed him $3.125 million last season. Chances are they aren’t looking to keep him around for another season of no productivity. Especially, if they draft a safety in the first three rounds.
