A 75-yard opening touchdown reception in Super Bowl XIII. 73-yard fourth-quarter touchdown reception in Super Bowl XIV. 24.4 yards per reception in Super Bowls. Eight straight playoff appearances with a touchdown.

There may have never been a wide receiver as preeminent in the postseason as John Stallworth. His time in Pittsburgh may be slightly overshadowed for younger generations by Lynn Swann, but what he did throughout his time in the league continues to sit in the record books.

Still Curtain named Stallworth the third-greatest Steelers wide receiver of all-time. His speed and long-ball ability were virtually untouchable. Joining the team at the same time as Swann, the two became the best receiving duo in the league for years.

Pittsburgh’s initial deep threat, Stallworth found himself in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2002. This came a year after his teammate Swann got in. It took far too long for both of them to earn Canton enshrinement. Today, he continues to rank among the greatest to wear black and gold.
