Pittsburgh Steelers: What to watch for against the Eagles
By Dan Gilliam
Jaylen Samuels
How will he be used? He can line up as a running back, tight end, slot receiver and fullback plus I love the versatility he brings to the team. Defenses could have a very hard time diagnosing a play with him on the field.
Randy Fitchner’s play calling
The preseason will not tell us much but how will be the run/pass ratio? Will we see more 4 WR sets? Do we see the TE’s split out as slot receivers? Do we see a lot of motion before the snap? Will the FB be in on more running plays? This game will start to draw the picture of our new coach’s play calling tendencies and how he will use personnel groupings with formations.
Bucky Hodges
I just really like what I heard about this guy before the draft last year. I hear he is oozing with potential and I just want to see what he can do. He is big 6’6” 257 pounds and ran a 4.57 40 yard dash at the NFL combine last year! I would love to see a weapon at tight end for the Steelers who can stay healthy.
These are just a handful of players and tidbits to keep an eye on this Thursday. If this list does not get your heart pumping then go get your pulse checked because you may be dead.
This is the first step towards the beginning of the season and we have a good shot to win our seventh Lombardi Trophy. There is so much more to look at and watch then just the starters, so take it all in. Steelers fans, the road to Minneapolis starts this Thursday! Go Steelers!
