L.J. Fort

L.J. Fort came out of no where against the Packers to land five tackles and a sack. The Steelers biggest concern on defense is inside linebacker, and Fort is proving to earn a chance at the job. Tyler Matakevich and Jon Bostic are looking more and more like mistakes, meaning over the next two weeks, Pittsburgh may be looking for another option.

As long as Fort continues to play well, he’ll at least be a consideration. Even if he doesn’t get a chance at the starting job, he should be looking at solid playing time behind Vince Williams and the unknown starting linebacker.

Him and Matthew Thomas look better than the starters, right now. That has to mean something in the eyes of Mike Tomlin and Keith Butler. That doesn’t mean they’re going to jump Bostic and Matakevich, but it could certainly mean they earn playing time. Something Fort has taken advantage of in the preseason.
