New Jack Fan

In the age of microwaveable information and advanced analytics, the new fan has emerged and has access to on-demand tools to assess their team’s performance as well as that of the players. The same in-depth loyalty doesn’t seem to be the same as it was back in the day.

These new fans seem always ready to eviscerate coaches/players while giving up too early on the team. Sometimes this throwaway mentality doesn’t create a long-term fan because of the impatience that exist.

Heinz field is of course much more modern and the change of times hasn’t dampened the old fans spirit. But, hopefully, they can influence the newer fans on how to be more supportive and patient with the coaches/players as well as the organization at large.

Other Fanbases

There is a saying, ” You’ll never miss your water until your well runs dry”, I think this applies to Steelers fans if they would just consider other fanbases. We don’t have to look any further than in our own division to see the futility that exists in Cleveland alone.

Cincy has not won a playoff game in fifteen years, fifteen years and if you think the Ravens are getting a pass in Baltimore, the fans are worst. Over ninety-five percent of the fans in the league would gladly change teams thus the level of success that the Steelers have experienced over the years.

Do you think the fans of Detroit are happy with the perennial losing that they experience year in and year out?

Everyone has the right to be the type of fan that they desire to be, comment/criticize everything about the coaches and players or walk away to other fanbases. Some fans will never be satisfied even if Vince Lombardi himself was brought back to coach or if they had their choice of other players.

To those who have a history as fans and to those who are working to the level of that loyalty, back our Steelers through all times. Let’s be more respectful to the players and coaches while enjoying the entertainment value for what it is…a part of the Steelervilization.
