Steelers secondary – Stock: down, way, way down.

The Steelers secondary has been rebuilding for almost every season since 2013. Former first rounder Artie Burns was supposed to help strengthen the group but that hasn’t been the case.

The unit went into the game down veteran CB Joe Haden after he pulled his hamstring in week one. Burns also injured his toe at the Friday practice but still played, even though watching the game it looked as though he was doing everything BUT playing.

The safeties and corners alike have not have a good first two weeks. The week two game, however, was an absolute dumpster fire for them.

The front seven did not get enough pressure which did not help matters but the fact is there was no one to cover Kelce, Hill, or Hunt. Kelce reaped the benefits of the cover two scheme and ate up 109 yards on seven catches and scored twice.

This is simply unacceptable from a Steelers secondary that had looked to be poised for a decent year in 2018. Terrell Edmunds is not having a great start to his rookie year as he has not looked good in games one and two after a good camp.

The secondary needs to up their game and fast. That may start with Joe Haden coming back healthy but the road doesn’t get any easier in week three with a hot Tampa Bay offense awaiting with Ryan “Fitzmagic” Fitzpatrick having the best start he’s ever had.
