Derwin Gray, OL, Maryland

To round out the 2019 NFL Draft, the Steelers took guard Derwin Gray with their 7th round pick. The Steelers only brought in one offensive lineman during the pre-draft process (LSU’s Garrett Brumfield), so this pick was a bit of a surprise.

The Steelers starting offensive line is among the oldest in the league. However, Pittsburgh has younger players like B.J. Finney, Chukwuma Okorafor, and Jerald Hawkins in waiting. Gray probably stands little chance of making the team this year. However, he should be able to at least secure a spot on the practice squad and maybe see a promotion to the roster somewhere down the line.
