Top 50 Pittsburgh Steelers of the 2000’s: players 50-41
By Tommy Jaggi
47. Vince Williams, LB (2013)
Vince Williams earned his stripes and then some as a former 6th round selection. The hard-nosed Steelers linebacker has already played in 93 of a possible 96 regular season games for the Steelers since being drafted in 2013.
Williams is not a dynamic linebacker in the mold of a Ryan Shazier or even Lawrence Timmons, but his ability go go downhill and shed blocks is what has held the interest of the Steelers coaching staff for all of these years.
Much like James Farrior used to be, Williams is somewhat of a liability in coverage, but excels at blitzing from the middle of the defense and can mix it up inside with the best of them. Vince will likely never hear his name called with the best linebackers in Steelers history, but his contributions to the team can’t be understated as a former late-round draft choice.
The Pittsburgh Steelers got their moneys worth out of Vince Williams, and then some.
