Top 50 Pittsburgh Steelers of the 2000’s: players 50-41
By Tommy Jaggi
44. Bud Dupree, EDGE (2015)
Dupree has mainly been a disappointment for the Steelers through his first four seasons in the league. As a former 1st round draft choice with great speed and explosion, there Steelers were looking for more than 5.5 sacks on nearly 900 defensive snaps from Dupree last season.
Though Dupree hasn’t been terrible, he certainly hasn’t been great by any means (part of the reason why he is only 44th on this list).
The Steelers fell in love with Dupree’s freakish athleticism at the NFL Combine, where he posted a 4.56s 40-yard dash, a 42” vertical jump and a 138” broad jump – all at 269 pounds, no less.
However, the inconsistencies and lack of production we saw in college has transferred over to the NFL stage for Dupree. He now sits on the 5th year option – waiting to see if the Steelers will give him a second contract.
Will Dupree elevate his status beyond the 44th best Steeler since 2000, or will younger players push him off the list?
