36. James Conner, RB (2017)

James Conner has quickly emerged as a fan favorite – and for good reason. The former cancer survivor  made a remarkable comeback to football, and in just his second NFL season, has earned Pro Bowl honors.

Despite missing 3 games last season, Conner was a steady force on the ground – rushing for nearly 1,000 yards and 12 touchdowns. To the surprise of many, Conner also helped pick up the slack in the receiving game – gaining nearly 500 yards through the air and averaging 9.0 yards per reception.

James Conner recently turned 24 years old, and has two years remaining on his rookie deal. Conner is a local product who grew up in Erie, Pennsylvania and played college ball at Pitt.

The Steelers will have a decision to make about whether or not to give Conner a contract extension. With the stardom he has created in Pittsburgh as a Pro Bowl running back and with such a remarkable back-story, something tells me it is going to be hard for the Steelers not to want to keep him around for good.
