Buccaneers

The Buccaneers have some of the worst graded cornerbacks in the league from a season ago. Vernon Hargreaves III has been a bust, and hasn’t had a season with a grade over 62.3 in his 3-year career.

Like Burns, Hargreaves was also a former 1st round draft choice back in 2016, but you could make the case that he has been worse than Burns so far in their careers.

Outside of Hargreaves, the Bucs have a pair of second year cornerbacks in Carlton Davis and M.J. Stewart. Neither player had good rookie seasons, but they both have room to grow.

Adding Artie Burns to the mix could strike up competition and force the best young players to win out. Burns has had two seasons with a higher grade than any of the top cornerbacks on Tampa Bay’s roster.

The Buccaneers need all the help they can get on defense, and they may not mind sacrificing a late round draft choice to get a player who could potentially contribute on defense right way.

Next. Most likely to make the Steelers roster: Diontae Spencer or Kameron Kelly?. dark

Burns isn’t even close to a premier NFL cornerback, but the former 1st rounder turned just 24 years old this offseason, and has shown good play in the past. He’s not for everyone, but there are a few teams out there who would be willing to give up a day three pick for a chance that he could reach his potential.
