How will Mason Rudolph look?

This is an important question because the Steelers may want Mason Rudolph to be the successor to Ben. We saw Mason Rudolph last preseason but the jump from the first year to the second year is the most telling. Mason Rudolph was a smart quarterback at Oklahoma State and the hope is that the NFL game has slowed down for him.

Two things that I want to see from Mason Rudolph in his play this year is the ability to throw the ball accurately and to minimize turnovers. Turnovers can be a result of a lack of experience and that is my hope for the story connected to the turnovers of last preseason.

I want to see Mason Rudolph throw the ball to the receivers in a way that leads him to a high completion percentage. I think he is capable of that, but I want to see it in an NFL game.

The other thing to watch for is Mason Rudolph’s ability to win the backup job. Josh Dobbs and Mason Rudolph are competing for the #2 job and it is not settled even if Josh Dobbs is going to start the game. Mike Tomlin usually has the more experience player go first in the preseason.
