What role will Mark Barron play?

The Steelers signed Mark Barron for two years at 12 million. This kind of money indicates that Mark Barron will play. But I wonder what role he will have?

One scenario is that he comes in during certain situations – perhaps when the Steelers are in nickel and dime defenses (which he is better suited for than Vince Williams). Another scenario is that he becomes the top backup at inside linebacker. A third scenario is that he starts over Devin Bush.

I think the most likely scenario at this point is that he comes in as a rotational linebacker. I think Devin Bush will be close to the every-down linebacker in this most likely scenario. I think Vince Williams will be on the field in base and goal-line situations and I think Mark Barron will be on the field in nickel. In the dime, I could see Mark Barron being the only inside linebacker on the field with Cameron Sutton coming into the game.

All this is speculation, but I hope that this next game might answer the question of what role Mark Barron is going to play?
