James Washington

Yes, he made this list last week and he’s going to make it again this week.

Listen, this guy is out to make himself the number two receiver. It does help that one of the quarterbacks throwing him the ball is the same guy who threw him the ball in college, but this goes way further than that.

Washington looks so much more composed and confident in everything he is doing on the football field in preseason so far. He looks like a legitimate NFL receiver so far in every which way. He’s been having a great camp and, more importantly, he’s translating it into games.

This catch here in particular showed some great veteran-like instincts as a receiver.

Making a catch in traffic like this and having the instinct to avoid an incoming tackle is a veteran-like play from Washington. He caught four out of five targets for 78 yards on the night. 40 of those yards came on another deep ball from Josh Dobbs.

That deep ball from Dobbs was a bit under-thrown, but Washington adjusted well to it and made a very nice catch down the middle of the field.

Washington has been showing he could be a dangerous weapon in the Steelers’ offense. It’s just preseason, but the man has been really impressive.
