Bud Dupree: Stock – up

Dupree has been somewhat of a bust first rounder in his short career thus far. He isn’t a full-fledged bust in my eyes because he has been productive but that production hasn’t matched his draft position yet.

Dupree has shown flashes every year of the type of rusher he can be. He is a big, physical presence with good speed off the edge for his size.

He did not play week one but started week two. He finished his time with two sacks and seemed to be all around the football during his snaps.

His ability to adjust his route to the QB will be a big key to his success or failure in 2019. He often over-pursues and leaves a lane open for the QB to escape.  In one of his two sacks, he tightened that route up and broke inside directly at the quarterback and brought the sack home.

If Dupree can keep taking efficient routes to the quarterback, he and T.J. Watt will give the Steelers a potent pass rushing duo. Dupree is in a contract year so hopefully he comes up big for the team.
