James Conner
After a breakout season in 2018, a lot of eyes are on James Conner going into 2019. And after two preseason games, Conner already looks to be in midseason form.
In the first chance to play in as close to regular season football in 2019, Conner was really solid and looked just as good as he did last season. He carried the ball five times for 41 yards and added two catches for 15 yards.
This play was a really solid run for Conner, showing a great read out of the backfield and elusiveness in open space.
Conner looks like he hasn’t lost a step since the end of the 2018 season. He’s running really well in between the tackles, he’s elusive as ever when he gets into space, and his conditioning is impressive so far. He’s been able to make guys miss and take tacklers forward in preseason play so far.
The third-year running back out of Pittsburgh has shown enough in preseason that he is primed and ready to go for 2019. It’s unknown whether or not he will play at all in the preseason finale, but it’s probably wise if he doesn’t dress for the game. There’s no rust on this man. He’s good to go.
