Terrell Edmunds

Kam Kelly wasn’t the only safety to impress in the win over the Titans Sunday night. And if this guy has a huge year in 2019, it bolsters this Steelers defense drastically.

Terrell Edmunds looked very impressive in this game. The box score wasn’t sexy (three total tackles and one pass defended), but like Kam Kelly, he showed explosive reactions in coverage and solid tackling throughout his time on the field.

The pass defended was easily Edmunds’ best play of the night, where he closed in on Titans’ receiver A.J. Brown in a blaze and hit him right as the pass was getting to him, separating him from the ball. The very next play is when Stephon Tuitt sacked Marcus Mariota for a safety.

The game moves so fast for rookies. In 2018, Edmunds was at the mercy of learning the NFL game by playing more often than the Steelers wanted to use him. Injury issues with Morgan Burnett forced Edmunds to play more than Mike Tomlin originally intended. Even still, Edmunds had a pretty solid rookie year.

With what happened last year, it could pay off for Edmunds even more in 2019. The game will be much slower to him, and having in the inside linebacker spot upgraded in front of him will also make his job much easier.
